Today it is like the days of hundreds of years ago in, in years of African royalty. And others who wore achievements similar to what you have done.
I think it's important for this particular group of students to be showcased in the light of - I guess the struggle, historically that they've endured. And as an example of what can happen with perseverance. I think also with what we've seen of late in the headlines, it's real important that we accentuate the positive as much as possible.
And the presentation of a Kente, particularly during the earlier years of it's history - was only given to individuals of Royalty in a great leadership, and to others in the community who had extraordinary accomplishments or deeds.
Want them to take a sense of accomplishment, and take pride in, in the things that they've done. Sometimes they lose perspective, and they can only see tomorrow. But the indication that they get here will open doors for them throughout their lives. And I hope they'll appreciate that.
And they would come to see this person. To honor and celebrate what they have done. And because - in part, because of the individuals accomplishments. Because also the members of the community felt that you represented who they were. Because your accomplishments were accomplishments for the community as well.
